Frequently Asked Questions

How often are the products updated?

Data are updated monthly, normally mid-month. The PECOS data & "National Downloadable File" is also updated at that time.

What is the advantage of using .csv files?

The .csv files can be opened directly in Excel 2010 and higher. No need for database import or advanced "sql" skills.

Why do you use PayPal as your payment gateway?

Paypal has been a reliable gateway for us, and we don't really have a reason to change that.

Do you have a money back guarantee?

We normally do not issue refunds unless there is a verifiable reason that our products do not meet your needs. It is recommended that you download a sample database or .csv and make certain that it will meet your needs before purchasing.

What makes your product better than the extract scripts for this database from the web?

The scripts found on the web do not include extraction scripts for the 3 new files. The new files were added to the standard 1 file download late last year. These 3 files yield an additional; ½ Million "Other Addresses", ½ million "Other Names", 600K "Other Telephone Numbers", and 300K. "Endpoints" which may be API addresses, and some E-mail addresses. That's pretty close to two million additional data points.

Why is the MySql database taking hours to import?

Do not import the database from a wireless connection with the file located on the wireless machine. Move the file to a network file share or the database machine and run the import from there. Also helpful is altering your RAM allocated to Mysql by setting the "innodb_buffer_pool_size" key in the "My.ini" file.  Default it's set to "128M". Our Mysql server is set to "innodb_buffer_pool_size=16G". Link to MySql official documentation for setting the
"innodb_buffer_pool_size" key. You may also alter the number of "POOLS"...

Is the schema the same between your "sample files" and the files that are purchased?

Not yet, we have just changed the schema and the sample files will be ready in the next couple of weeks.

I searched for a provider and the address doesn't match what I found with a Google search. Why?

The only data manipulation we do is remove duplicates and properly case the names. The address is incorrect because that's the way it is in the NPPES original file. Properly cased columns include; First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Address components, Organization names, and Contact names. The proper casing is performed so that address labels may be printed. Duplicates are removed from; Practitioner Identifiers, Practitioner Taxonomies, and Practitioner Taxonomy Groups.

Who are your customers?

We have individual buyers as well as large corporate buyers. Corporate buyers include, MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Johnson & Johnson, and many others.
